There's nothing inherently wrong with Internet opinions, but they can be the thieves of joy. Looking up how to beat a level in a game without first attempting it ourselves robs us of the experience of discovery. Some of the best games, books, and travels I've experienced were somehow completely hated by hordes of individuals online, and I wouldn't find out until later. Over time, I started looking up reviews and opinions about absolutely everything I had any vested interest in and couldn't figure out why nothing felt fun or engaging anymore. After a while of refraining from asking others what they thought about a matter, I started asking myself what I thought. It was irritating at first because it felt like a waste of time and I could get an answer more quickly online, but after a while, I had random jolts of excitement every time I fixed, discovered, or figured something out on my own. Your mileage may vary, and since my opinion is yet another opinion on the Internet, it's best you don't take it as gospel. Give thanks.

I started playing Elden Ring recently and with Proton GE it is working quite well. Sometimes it still fails to start so that I need to do it multiple times. Rarely it crashs. However my main confusion is about PvP: Aren't you getting invaded every now and then? I see messages and ghosts of other players, but I never got invaded and I played it for almost 100 hours. Am I missing something or are random invasions no longer a thing in Elden Ring? (not that I really want to be invaded, I am just wondering)

Hi @kyjorei I had some trouble setting up Elden Ring on Arch Linux + Hyprland (Wayland) Steam Proton Experimental + 3080Ti. When I launch the game, in Borderless Windowed mode, I am able to set any resolution I want, but in Fullscreen mode, I'm only able to use lower resolutions. I have monitor scaling turned off for xwayland. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'd also love to see a guide from you on setting up Elden Ring HDR on Linux.

Those WM you mentioned are NOT TILING manager-- they require keybanging bullshit-- and that is NOT Tiling...th'tas MOVING..... AUTO TILING is like POP OS-- or Bismuth for kde-- and there NEEDS to be something for XFCE that does the same thing... this key crap is NOT tiling..

Had to remove 'gamemoderun' for the game to launch and it does indeed crash if you launch game > enable RT > load game. so, I launched game > disabled RT > loaded game > enabled RT > quit to menu > load game and it worked. Hopefully Valve adds proper support soon, but in the meantime this trick will have to do. Thanks for the help! For anyone curious: I'm on the latest PopOS Nvidia edition as of 3/25/2023 and I'm using a 4070Ti.
